This week we cleaned and ripped out all of the carpet, wallpaper, and mirrors in our dollhouse!
What We Did
Step 1:
Cleaning:
First, we cleaned the entire house. We used LA's Totally Awesome Oxygen Orange Cleaner. It was really great for cleaning the outside of the house and getting all the dirt and marks off of it.
You can find the cleaner here!
Step 2:
Removing Items Carefully to Repurpose:
Next, we removed everything that we knew we wouldn't want in the house but we could maybe use it somewhere else when we were redoing it.
The one thing we took out was all of the mirrors. We pulled them out gently so that we could reuse them if we found a good use for them somewhere else.
Step 3:
Demo:
This was the hardest part of all. Mostly with the carpet! We used a crowbar to lift up the carpet, whoever made this dollhouse really wanted it to stay down! The crowbar was the way to go to get it all up though.
Once we got up the flooring the wallpaper really was quite easy to pull off. We will be covering it anyway though so we weren't super worried about taking off all the pieces.
Step 4:
Tidying Up:
After we were done pulling everything out, we cleaned up the inside of the house by vacuuming it out and trying to pick off the leftover pieces of the carpet that just didn't want to come off.
I suggest finding something that can really scrape things off. There is no way we would have been able to get all of this out without it!
I will link a similar one to what we used here.
